ROMANCE
Whatever happened to the days
When our true love took the time.
Today it’s a quick text
Can’t wait for the phone to chime.
When our true love took the time.
Today it’s a quick text
Can’t wait for the phone to chime.
Once upon a time it was quill
And lovely paper that was used.
Now it's waves sent in a hurry
And quick to be perused.
And lovely paper that was used.
Now it's waves sent in a hurry
And quick to be perused.
I miss the days of romance
Candy, written poetry, a flower.
A text is so inadequate
Provides nothing to devour.
Candy, written poetry, a flower.
A text is so inadequate
Provides nothing to devour.
Romance is a dinosaur
that needs to be revived
so that future generations
will not be deprived.
that needs to be revived
so that future generations
will not be deprived.

Very beautiful and true. I was going to write this comment with my quill but the ink smeared on my i phone! This was lovely!
ReplyDeleteLovely last stanza. Beautifully done. Glad I'm not the only one missing the "old ways". Love Lumdog's comment too.
ReplyDeleteThe good news is that for us that do the letters and candy thing, there is no competition!
ReplyDeleteGood observations!
So true! It's crazy how much that's changed in recent years, and sad how much has been lost.
ReplyDeleteGreat observation expressed very nicely.
ReplyDeleteThis is so true - last stanza sums it up nicely. Hubby's idea of romance has turned into leaving a note to remind me it's trash day with "Love you" added at the end :)
ReplyDeleteIt's funny. I printed out everything my then-boyfriend-now-husband and I e-mailed each other for our first year of dating.
ReplyDeleteIt took an entire ream of paper.
giggle.
Nicely put together.
ReplyDeleteso true. Everything is so fast and instant. We expect it to be now now now...but good things take time to develop :)
ReplyDeleteGreat job
Oh I love it and it is so true. I still have some old stationery around here, but will never use it. By the way this word verification is driving me nuts. I can't read it and am working on the 4th try. I could still prove I wasn't a robot if it were printed out in clear, rather than distorted images.
ReplyDeleteVery sweet - the last stanza in particular. And oh, how true.
