TRIFEXTRA: WEEK 26

She'd stepped out onto the stage many times over the years and the butterflies were no different knowing this would be the last time as she reflected over her life's choice of career.

This weekend's challenge at Trifecta is to write the first line (or incipit) of a book.  The challenge is to reel in the reader to read the rest of the story.

After you've read mine, click on the picture above and go read the others.  They're fantastic.  Disclaimer:  They will leave you wanting, as Paul Harvey so eloquently put it, "the rest of the story".  Enjoy!

A snippet from Mommeee:  Had I not been so shy growing up, this could have possibly been the title of my story.

Ooh! The rest of the book could be a flashback to her favorite performances!

Nice little snippet. Makes you want to read more. Great job!

I think I failed the capcha test! I'll try again. Great hook, wondering why this is her last performance. You added another teaser about how you this might have been your story. That sounds like the makings of another story!

I'm picturing a diva. Nicely done!

Interesting! The book starts at the end of something...will there be a new beginning?

Something tells me she wasn't a stripper.
Just like a feeling.

Sorry.

Can I still visit you?

Hmmm...I hadn't thought about stripper until the comment above. I'm curious if her last performance is her choice or if something (or someone) is forcing her to quit.

An ending of a career at the beginning of a story...clever!

Oh what is her career? Definitely want to know more...

I like the idea of this. A movie star, a dancer, a performer of some sort. My only critique is the line is too long as a single sentence. I think it should be broken up a bit :)

Very nice - I'd read more for sure.

For some reason this brings to mind Bette Midler's character from the end of Beaches. An intriguing start.
Thanks for playing along with us this week. Please come on back Monday for the new prompt.

At first I thought actress until the end "her life's career choice". Now I'm thinking an unsavory performer. Very interesting.

I suspect that all performers feel that way, needing the adrenal-butterflies to keep on going. Well done.

In my head, she was a singer. I was all set to hear her swan song!
